The Congress Chair, Prof. Takahiro KANNO, DDS, FIBCSOMS, FIBCSOMS-ONC/RECON, PhD
Professor & Director. Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Shimane University Faculty of Medicine, Izumo, Shimane, Japan

The 23rd Asia Pacific Implant Society Conference (APISCON) & General Assembly conjunction with the 29th Annual Meeting and Scientific Conference of the Japanese Academy of MaxilloFacial Implants (JAMI) will be held from November 29 (Saturday) to November 30 (Sunday), 2025, at Matsue Terrsa, Shimane, Japan (Matsue Workers' Comprehensive Welfare Center, Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture, Japan) and via on-demand streaming. This conference has a long-standing tradition as a platform where oral-maxillofacial surgeons, prosthodontists, implant dentists, dental radiologists, and other dental specialists gather to share and advance academic knowledge. It is my great honor to serve as the chairperson of this esteemed event, and together with my colleagues, I am fully committed to preparing a conference that meets your expectations.

The theme of this year’s conference is “Exploring Oral Function Assessment as an Outcome of Oral-Maxillofacial Implant Treatments.” With growing interest in oral function, including issues such as oral hypofunction in children and oral frailty in the elderly, the focus of various academic societies has shifted beyond oral diseases to include the development, maintenance, and management of oral function. The Japanese Academy of MaxilloFacial Implants, closely associated with conditions such as jaw and oral tumors, maxillofacial trauma, inflammatory diseases, and congenital disorders, also plays a critical role in addressing oral functional impairments. This theme aims to foster discussions that will pave the way for new insights and advancements in the field.

This year, we are also honored to co-host, welcoming implant dentistry specialists from countries such as South Korea, Taiwan, China, India, and Thailand, making this a truly international academic event. Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to enjoy Shimane’s autumn delicacies, such as blackthroat seaperch, Shimane Wagyu beef and Matsuba queen crab which has earned national acclaim. The banquet will provide a relaxed and friendly atmosphere for members to connect while savoring a rich variety of local cuisine.

The 23rd Asia Pacific Implant Society Conference (APISCON) & General Assembly conjunction with the 29th Annual Meeting and Scientific Conference will not only serve as a venue for academic exchange on implant treatments for the jaw and facial regions but also as an opportunity to enjoy the cultural and culinary attractions of Matsue City. We sincerely look forward to welcoming you and ensuring a fulfilling and memorable experience in Shimane, Japan.
